Santa Baby

We have been having so much fun this Christmas season!!! Grady keeps us smiling and it is so much fun to do our usual Christmas traditions with our little guy!!!

Grady got to meet Santa for the first time!!! I was really worried he was going to freak out like most kids do, but he just played with Santa's beard and even gave me a smile.

Here is Grady sitting with all of the yummy treats we baked and the cards we sent out to family and friends!!

Our little guy always keeps us smiling and laughing. He is the cutest and sweetest thing ever!! Honestly, who could resist these cheeks?

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Holiday Happenings

We had a great Thanksgiving this year!!! Grandma and Grandpa Breckenridge were up in Utah spending the holiday with Aaron's sister Brie, so we got to spend Thanksgiving with the Nielson Family. We had so much fun eating until we were sick, playing Clue several times so we all had a chance to figure out who did it, having Mario Kart Doubledash tournaments, and just being lazy watching movies. I think Grady had a great 1st Thanksgiving...he wasn't so sure about his first Thanksgiving dinner though!!!

Grandpa decided to give Grady a turkey leg. Grady was less than enthused by this and...

this, his first taste of mashed potatoes. The picture says it all!!!

It was soooo cold up in Snowflake!!! Here is Grady all bundled up ready to go play outside.

Here he is braving the craziness in the game room taking part in the annual Mario Kart Doubledash tournament.

And of course, once we got home from all the Thanksgiving festivities we had to put up the Christmas Tree!!! It was wonderful decorating the tree with our first baby. Grady had fun playing with the lights and was mesmerized by the shiny ornaments.

Cutest Present Ever!!

Overall we had one of the best Thanksgivings ever!!! It was great getting to spend so much time together and with our family. We hope everyone had a great holiday and now we can't wait for Christmas to come!!!

Twilight at Midnight

All us girls got together and went to the midnight showing of Twilight. Yep you heard me...MIDNIGHT!!! We have all read the books and absolutely love them. Course, who isn't obsessed with Edward Cullen after reading those books? So we made a girls night out of it. I hate to say the best part of the night was the three hours of chit-chatting with each other before the movie even started. I was very disappointed with the movie and thought it could have been 10 times better than it was. It started off good, but about 30 minutes into it it started to go downhill real quick. I will admit the actor who played Edward did a very good job and I was happy with him. All in all it was a fun night and will always be a great memory!!

P.S. Kristie we missed you!! Wished you could have been there!!!

We of course have plans to have a lot more fun today for Aaron's actual birthday. We even have babysitters!!! Woo hoo!! But Grady and I just wanted to wish dad a happy birthday and tell him we love him so very much and he is the bestest dad ever!!! Love ya!!

Trick or Treat!!

We had a fun Halloween this year. We packed up and went to Snowflake Friday afternoon so Grady could trick or treat at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Grady's costume ended up being a little snug, it was my own fault though. We bought it at the beginning of October, and my sweet boy just keeps growing and growing. He was a little trooper though. I must say Grady was the cutest dragon I have ever seen!!!

And here is my little dragon with Tinkerbell, an Inmate, and the Honorable Judge Dale P. Nielson. It was a great Halloween!!

No Longer "Drained"

Well, the day finally came!!! I thought it was never going to come, but it FINALLY did!! My surgical drain was taken out on Friday!!! It was such a relief and very exciting to get it out, but I must say it felt a little weird not having that thing attached to me anymore. I posted before and after pictures and a picture of exactly how much of the tubing was inside of me since people have been curious.

Before:

After:

This isn't the best picture of what my stomach looks like without the drain. I couldn't get the drain or bandage wet, so I couldn't take a shower. Yeah, it was awful. I could only sit in a couple inches of water in the bath and sponge bathe and then wash my hair in the sink. Let's just say it was a long 6 weeks!! My skin was so yucky underneath the bandage; very dry and moist at the same time. The picture below shows the length of the drain, and the yucky stuff on the bandage is almost like mold. It was gross!!! The blue tube that is curled and on the left side of the bandage is what was inside of me.

It is so nice being back to normal and getting back into our old routine. Grady has been so good through all of this. Here are some pictures of my sweet boy from the last 6 weeks.

Pumpkin Patch Fun!!!

Over the weekend Aaron and I decided to take our sweet Grady James to the Pumpkin Patch. It was a fun family outing and we got some cute pictures of our little guy.

He was a little unsure of the pumpkins and hay at first. After awhile of lounging with them he was fine. He is getting so big!!!

This is my sweet boy rolling around with all the miniature pumpkins. He finally decided he could roll over!!! My mom was here last week and she woke up and he was on his tummy in his crib. Yay for Grady!!! I was very proud of my boy. Now he is a rolling machine and loves to roll into mommy's blinds and play in the window. We took him to the doctor last week for a sick visit and he now weighs a whopping 18 lbs 11 oz. BIG BOY!! He just had his 5 month birthday and he is already wearing 9 month and 12 month clothes!!!As for me, I still have my ugly surgical drain in. The fluid is decreasing so hopefully it can come out soon!!! Happy Halloween!!

Viewer Discretion is Advised

Some of you may know that I haven't felt like my normal self since before I was pregnant with Grady. So it has been more than a year!!! I was so sick during the first half of my pregnancy and then I swelled to twice my size the second half. I had an emergency c-section with Grady, and I thought that was going to be the end of my health issues. Boy was I wrong!! About 3 weeks after Grady arrived I started having horrible pain in my chest and ribs. This pain led to two 911 calls, the firemen visiting my house twice, two trips to the ER, a suspected blood clot in my lung which landed me in the hospital for 3 days, and many visits to many doctors. Finally, the beginning of August I went to see a new doctor, Dr. Laufer, and he thought I might have gallstones. One ultrasound later, it was confirmed that I had multiple stones in my gallbladder. So off I went to see Dr. Chen, my surgeon, and he decided it was best to remove my gallbladder. September 3rd I went in for laproscopic surgery at 2:00 p.m. and was home in my bed by 4:30 p.m. I was told by many people that I would be back on my feet within 2-3 days. Of course, with my luck, that didn't happen. A week after my surgery I was still in terrible pain and unable to care for my sweet baby by myself. So off to Snowflake I went so my mom could take care of Grady and me. Well, September 12th rolls around and I am in so much pain and pale as a ghost my mom calls Dr. Chen and he advises me to go immediately to the ER to get an abdominal scan. I am not a huge fan of the hospital in Show Low so I opted to go see Dr. Paxman, a family doctor. He then sends me to get a CT Scan which later shows I have two huge pockets of fluid inside my tummy right around where my gallbladder used to be. Back to the valley we go. Dr. Chen discovered that I have an extra bile duct (which is a birth defect and only 1 in every 300 people have), and will be needing drains inserted into my tummy and a stint placed inside my main bile duct. So after both of these procedures this is what I looked like in the hospital...

The yummy looking stuff in the drainage bag is bile from my liver mixed in with a little bit of blood. Lovely huh? After both procedures were done I started to feel much better. Two days after I left the hospital my little bulb drain was taken out. So now I just have the drainage bag, which is still draining tons of stuff which you can see by this picture...

Because there is still so much drainage I may have to undergo yet another procedure. Hopefully this next one will do the trick and fix me so I can feel like a human being again!!! I will keep you posted...keep your fingers crossed!!!

#3........Diamondbacks........Baby Fun

A lot of fun things have happened since I last posted. First, Aaron and I had our 3rd anniversary. It is hard to believe it has been 3 years; it doesn't feel like it has been that long at all. It seems like yesterday we were playing ultimate frizbee and dating. The past 3 years have been absolutely wonderful and I can't wait to see what the next 3 years have in store for us.

Next, Grady got to experience his first Diamondbacks game. My family usually goes to a Diamondbacks game for my little brother Parker's birthday and this year was no exception. Instead of hauling Grady around in our big, bulky stroller, we decided to purchase a carrier. Aaron and I laughed and laughed when we put him in this thing. He looked so big and sooooo cute!!! We all had a good time at the game and we are looking forward to next year.

Grady looking cool in his sunglasses. For some reason he kept opening his mouth everytime we put them on him.

Lifting his head up so good!!! He is enjoying tummy time more it seems. At least he doesn't scream anymore!!!

My Precious blue-eyed boy. I hope he has blue eyes forever and ever. He melts mommy's heart with those eyes!!

Update

Wow! It has been a long time since I last updated! We have been very busy with all kinds of things these past 2 months. First off, I had a small health scare the beginning of June. I ended up in the hospital for 3 days with what doctors thought was a blood clot in my lung. It was a very scary and stressful 3 days but I am perfectly fine now and no blood clot. Aaron started his new job at APS last week and everything is going good and he is enjoying it so far. Grady turned 2 months on July 1st and got his shots :( . It was a horrible experience for me, but he handled it pretty well. He was 24 1/2 inches long and a whopping 14 pounds. He has gotten even bigger since then! We call him our chuncky monkey!! He is growing too fast, he isn't my little newborn anymore!! We went up to Lakeside for the 4th of July and blessed Grady that weekend with all the family there. Aaron did a great job on the blessing and of course, I cried like a baby. Grady was sound asleep for the whole thing!! We were up in Lakeside/Snowflake for the following week visiting family and Aaron helped his dad with soccer camp. It was great being able to spend so much time with our families. I so want to move back up north to be closer to them!! Maybe one day we will be able to do that. We were up north again this past weekend for the Pioneer day celebration. It is an election year and my dad is running for judge again, so I got to be in the parade with him. Vote Nielson!!! Anyway, here are some pictures from our months adventures...enjoy!!!

I can't believe my baby Grady is already 1 month old!!! Time sure does fly by!!! We have been having so much fun watching our little man get chubby!! As you can see from the pictures he is getting some cheeks on him. These are some pictures we took of our little guy sleeping in our bed and his first bath. He loves to do both!!! :).

So Precious

We had some pictures taken of our sweet Grady James. Aaron's cousin is a photographer so she came over and took tons of the cutest pictures for us. I would post them all because they are all so cute, but I don't think there is enough room :). So here are three of our favorites.

Happy Mother's Day

I just wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to all the mother's out there!!! I have only been a mommy for just over a week and I can say that my life has completely changed for the better! I don't even remember what I did before my little Grady James came into the world. He has been such a special blessing in our home and we can't get enough of him. My mom stayed with us this past week to help out with the baby and it was truly a learning experience. I am so grateful for my mom and hope I can be half the mom she is. Thanks mom for all you did for us this past week!!! Grady already misses his grandma! It was hard seeing you leave yesterday, but know you can come visit anytime!!! We love you!!!

He is finally here!!!!!

Grady James Breckenridge finally made his grand entrance into the world May 1st, 2008. It was a long and hard delivery resulting in an emergency c-section, but we are all well and home. He was 8 lbs 5 oz and 21 1/2 inches long. We will be sure to post more pictures of our little man later, but just wanted everyone to know how cute he is. Until next time....

BABY Update/A little help please!!!

Well, tomorrow I will be 39 weeks along and on the verge of severe depression. I just had my weekly doctor's appointment today and I am no where close to having this baby. I have been dilated and effaced the same amount for the last three weeks!!! Something has got to give here!! My doctor tells me not to get to depressed since I haven't even passed by due date yet, but I am sooooo ready to have this baby. So if anyone has any tips on how to get things moving/started I would really appreciate them!!

Congratulations Christopher!!!

Friday night Aaron's little, well lets say younger, brother opened his mission call. Aaron and I of course couldn't be there seeing as how I am about to pop, and Aaron's sister lives up in Utah. So, we put the speaker phones to work that night so we could all listen as he opened up his mission call. He is going to Haumberg, Germany!!!! We are all so excited for him and we know he will be a great missionay. Aaron and I both thought he would go somewhere foreign, I guessed Honduras and Aaron guessed Domincan Republic, we were both way off. But we just wanted to say congrats to Christopher and we know you will be an awesome missionary. The people of Germany are lucky to have you!!!

Time for an Update...SORRY no Pictures!

Yes, I know it has been a long time since our blog was updated. But we really haven't had the time. This month has been super busy for us. Here are the two big reasons why we have been slacking. First, we are moving!!!! Not out of town or anything just to a new place here in Chandler. Second, I am now 9 months pregnant!!! I have entered the lovely swelling stage of pregnancy and my feet look like loaves of bread when I get home every night. So I basically can't do anything to help out my poor husband during the move. I am able to pack up boxes, but moving them is all on Aaron. Luckily his family is here this weekend to help us move all the big furniture. I had a couple baby showers this month, one given by the ladies in my ward and the other given by my beautiful cousins, but of course, with the move and all, my camera is dead and I have no idea where the charger is. So until I find it, no pictures. But hopefully in about a week we can post again with all the new pictures from this months adventures. Until then, stop asking us to update our blog!! :)

What's in a Name???

Ok- so, Aaron and I have yet to pick a name for our baby boy. We have come across a few names that we like, but we aren't sold on anything yet. So if anyone has heard any cute boy names lately please let us know. I hope we can come up with something before I go into labor!!! I don't want to be one of those mothers who still hasn't named her baby by the time we leave the hospital. So, please help!!!!
